If teeth are beyond repair and need to be extracted, or if they have never developed from birth, a dental implant is almost always the standard of care for tooth replacement. Once a tooth is removed the surrounding teeth begin to shift and must compensate for the “work” that the lost tooth or teeth were performing. Also, the bone in the area of the lost tooth “melts” away over time. Dental implants are a state-of-the-art system of tooth replacement, substituting for the root portion of lost teeth. Implants provide a stable foundation on which replacement teeth, such as crowns, bridges, and dentures, are attached. This treatment maintains the bone in the area of the implant, helps support the “work load” of the other teeth and allows you to chew and smile with confidence. Depending on your specific needs we will team up with a specialist for the implant placement or provide complete implant care in our office, from placement to final restoration.
864-297-5268 This patient has replaced her missing back teeth with dental implants. Round “healing abutments” sealed the top of the implants until crowns were able to be made. This patient lost his front tooth due to trauma. A white post is attached to the implant and a custom-made crown is cemented over the top of the post.
